In-Circle provides small group experiences promoting psychological health. It is a collaborative effort of two Clinical Social Workers, Susan Hendricks and Nancy Truluck.
- We are dedicated to enhancing the mental and emotional health of adults and adolescents through interactive small group experiences.
- Our focus is on growth , the search for health and possibilities, not on pathology.
"The truly potent therapy group first provides an arena for patients to interact freely with others, then helps them to identify and understand what goes wrong in their interactions, and ultimately enables them to change those maladaptive patterns." Irvin D. Yalom
“ We are manifestations of life, pure in essence and containing the most powerful ingredient that exists in the world: the power to grow.” Virginia Satir |
Theoretical Perspective
We value individuals and believe that everyone can grow and learn. Change is possible, and is based upon choice. We recognize each person as the real expert on herself or himself.
Our approach to group work is experiential – we learn and grow by doing – and systemic – we are all embedded in a system of connections and contacts with other people, both past and present.
We believe that the process of addressing many personal and emotional issues within a group of peers is synergistic - 2 plus 2 equals more than 4.
Individual therapy is important and often the primary source of help. However when group work is introduced, bonds of community may replace a sense of isolation.
We keep in mind that under some circumstances group work may not be appropriate.
